When Stewarts Garden Centre wanted to give its quarterly email newsletter a makeover, it asked local company Freshleaf to carry out the work. The result, is a fresh new design and - more importantly - a highly flexible template that gives Stewarts complete control over content and the ability to target specific customer groups at will.
Email newsletters are a powerful and popular marketing tool, and Stewarts was keen to get more benefit from the medium than its original email newsletter system would allow, as Freshleaf's Michael Johnson explains.
"Like many of our clients today, Stewarts wants a high degree of control over its emailings - when they get a good idea and want to do something new, they want to do it there and then. So we went for a content-managed approach, which gives Stewarts personnel the flexibility they need, while protecting the design and the strong Stewarts brand."
That flexibility extends to setting up new seasonal templates as well as editing existing ones. News items and special offer vouchers are simply typed in, as in a normal Word document, and digital images are uploaded and resized automatically. The whole process is fast and extremely simple.
Stewarts currently has around 1500 subscribers for its newsletter. That list can be segmented, to support highly targeted mailings, and simply exported for use in other marketing campaigns such as printed mail shots and special offers.
As far as Stewarts Director Richard Loader is concerned, Freshleaf has more than met its brief. "The content management-based email newsletter devised by Wordsun exceeded my expectations. The interface is modern in style, intuitive to use, and the output is well suited to the Stewarts audience."
